Finger Lakes Region Intimate Wedding | Emily & Jake

On the banks of the Webster bay, off the main road and secluded by trees, Emily and Jake celebrated their wedding with loved ones on the first weekend of May. I went to high school with both Emily & Jake and was honored when she reached out to me about wedding photography. Emily and Jake have been together since high school so to not only see them get married but to capture their day through photography was AMAZING.

Both Emily and Jake chose to have smaller wedding parties, creating an intimate feel for their day. Emily shared this about their decision “Jake and I are very family-oriented, and I really liked the idea of our wedding party being entirely family. I have wonderful friends that I love so I went back and forth a lot, but having my sisters up there with me is just a lasting memory that I really wanted.”

Emily’s dress was gorgeous. She shared a little bit about her dress: “It was actually the first dress I tried on! I thought I was going to like a more fitted look, but once I tried on the more “princess” dresses I LOVED the volume. I was a little paranoid about looking like a shapeless rail in my wedding dress so the figure that my dress gave me was perfect and made me feel beautiful.”

Advice for Newly Engaged Couples: “Get all your vendors set up and then take a break. I hustled to get all my vendors (esp with everything going on) and then I gave myself a 2-month break to not do wedding things. I knew that was my biggest task and once those were set it just became detailed things.”

Personal Touches for Their Day: “I wore my Nana’s pearls. She was always a very fabulous lady so having that touch made me feel even more beautiful. Our table setting was my Nana’s china that I inherited and my Grandmother’s linen napkins that she got as a gift for her wedding over 50 years ago – it helped me feel like they were with us. We also had a small table with photos from our parents’ and grandparents’ wedding that meant a lot to me.”
