On the small Island of Grand Island, Tina and Greg shared an intimate wedding ceremony with close friends and family. Greg and Tina were one of many couples whose wedding was impacted by COVID-19. Tina and Greg were faced with the decision of rescheduling their wedding for a later date or moving forward with their wedding plans. They decided that after dating for 9.5 years and being engaged for 1.5 years that they had waited long enough and decided to hold an intimate wedding on their original date. Despite the last-minute change of plans, their day came together beautifully!
Favorite Wedding Day Moments:
Having our first look and sneaking away for sunset photos were our favorite wedding day moments. It was nice to have a moment to ourselves to laugh and admire each other without worrying about entertaining our guests. Having such a small number of guests made it really easy to mingle and genuinely engage with everyone without feeling overwhelmed. We don’t think it would have felt as personable at the large wedding we originally planned. The weather was a bit cooler than a normal June day, but that allowed us to enjoy a bonfire at the end of the night, which was so relaxing!
The Proposal Story
We were getting ready for a formal winter party, and before we left for the night, Greg got down on one knee and proposed. We tried to keep it a secret all night at the party, which was funny and eventually people did notice the ring. It was nice to be dressed up and be able to go out the same night right afterward!
Words of Wisdom
Follow your gut! There is so much pressure to have a big wedding. We never dreamed of having a big wedding, but it was easy to get caught up in the fancy venues and the thought of throwing a huge party. All of our plans changed quite quickly and on short notice. While large weddings are fun and probably are the best choice for a lot of couples, our intimate wedding ultimately felt more like “us” than what we originally had planned. The day still felt nothing less than magical, and we are thrilled with how things turned out! Don’t feel pressured to have a large wedding because that’s what everyone else does or because of other people’s opinions. Do what feels right for you as a couple. I highly recommend a small intimate wedding!
