She sat down on the couch next to her husband; they looked at each other and smiled, both excited to look through their wedding album for the first time. They untied the silk ribbon and opened the box. “It’s beautiful,” she said as they lifted their album out of the box and ran their fingers over the fine leather.
Together they flipped through the thick pages of their album, reliving every special moment of their wedding day. Her mother helping her into her wedding dress, the hug her father gave her before walking down the island, the tears her husband shed as she came down the aisle towards him, and all the little moments in between. The emotions of their day flooded back to them as they ran their fingers over the heirloom quality images in their album.
There is something about holding a photograph in your hands. It connects you physically to the feelings of a time and place that an image on a screen can’t replace. That’s why your wedding album is so important. It is a tangible link to your wedding day.
Digital files definitely have their place, but a beautifully crafted fine art album is a permanent heirloom you will enjoy, share and pass down — a meaningful connection to your wedding day that becomes more cherished each year. This is WHY I create heirloom wedding albums for my clients.
So, with that, I wanted to share why I am so passionate about albums and why I highly encourage all couples to get one!
A Physical Connection to Your Day
Your wedding photos aren’t meant to live as digital files on your laptop; they are meant to be printed and enjoyed. They deserve to live in your home, beautifully displayed where you can look at them as often as you’d like. Imagine entertaining your parents for Sunday dinner. While dinner is still cooking in the oven, you gather in the living room, and your mom picks your wedding album up off the coffee table and begins to flip through it. She points to the photos of her helping you into your dress. You both laugh at how she struggled to button the back of your dress and how she had to reach into her purse and grab her glasses so she could see all of the buttons.
Relive Your Day
Unless you purchase prints or an heirloom wedding album, your wedding photos will sit on a flash drive or in the cloud. While digital storage of your photos is important, the likelihood of you looking through your images once they are out of sight isn’t great. With your images proudly displayed in your home as fine art prints and in your heirloom wedding album, you will be able to relive your day as you walk into your living room and glance at your framed prints displayed on your walls or as you grab your album off your coffee table and flip through it.
An Heirloom to Pass Down
Your wedding album will become a family heirloom that you can look at and share with your children and grandchildren. You will be able to show them the start of your marriage in a timeless album. This is the beginning of your legacy and the continuation of the legacy left behind by generations before you.
