Invest in a wedding planner
All of my friends who are married and invested in an independent wedding planner for their wedding (not just the venue coordinator) have said it was one of the best decisions they made.
All of my friends who are married and did not invest in a wedding planner say it’s one of their biggest regrets.
An experienced wedding planner will help you navigate your celebration’s logistics, details, and design. You and your partner lead full lives with successful careers, busy social plans, and some travel. Your time is valuable, and you don’t have hours to pour into wedding planning every week.
Working with a wedding planner will help smooth out the wedding planning process. There will be less on your plate, so you can be present and enjoy your wedding day.
A wedding planner will help you navigate planning leading up to your wedding and be there for you on your wedding to take care of any day-of hiccups, which can be more common than you think.
Your planner will take care of the stressful stuff, leaving your day carefree for you and your partner.
If you’re planning a wedding in the Finger Lakes, some of my favorite local planners include Simply Beautiful Events, Celebrated Events, Verve Event Co., and Eliza Jane Events.
Surround Yourself With Love and Support
Your wedding celebration will go by fast, especially if you celebrate with loved ones on one day rather than spreading it out over a wedding weekend.
Don’t include anyone in your immediate wedding circle that will bring you stress on your wedding day or cause any unnecessary drama.
Make sure you surround yourself with loved ones who support you and bring you joy so you can enjoy the limited time you have with them for your wedding.
My favorite weddings that I’ve photographed over the years are the ones where my couples have the best support system and choose to surround themselves with nothing but positivity on their day.
If you’re struggling to decide who to surround yourself with on your wedding day, let your intuition guide you and go with your gut!
Set Your Intentions
Before planning any aspect of your wedding celebration, you should set your intention.
When choosing who to include in your wedding party, do you want it to feel like you and your partner are bringing your entourage everywhere with you, or would you rather keep things simple and intimate?
When planning your timeline, do you want to sneak away for a sparkler exit, or do you want to spend as much time on the dance floor with your guests?
For your dress, is it more important for you to wear a statement gown with a cathedral train or wear something more comfortable that you can dance in?
Setting your intentions before making these decisions will make it easier to plan the wedding celebration you’ll enjoy.
