Every moment of Emily & Ryan’s downtown Rochester wedding was just as welcoming and sweet as they are. The couple kept their celebration intimate, with around 80 guests joining them for their ceremony & reception at the Jackrabbit Club in Rochester, New York.
Her immediate family joined Emily as they helped her get ready in her hotel suite in downtown Rochester.
Emily wore a pair of her mother’s earrings to complete her bridal look. She shared this:
“For my ‘something borrowed,’ I wore a pair of my mom’s earrings from her jewelry collection. They were extra special because they are the earrings my dad gifted her on their wedding day 33 years ago.”
The Gown
Emily looked stunning in a Jenny Yoo gown she found at the Lovely Bride boutique in Victor, New York. She shared this about finding her gown:
“I wanted the wedding dress to feel like an elevated version of my everyday style, which led me to the designer Jenny Yoo. I was drawn to how many of her designs were simple and timeless with modern elements. When I tried on my dress, I instantly fell in love with the very classic silhouette with the modern square neckline. My favorite part of the dress was the buttons we added down the back!”
Emily and Ryan chose to have a private first look and vow reading for their downtown Rochester wedding.
“Ryan and I wanted to have the personal aspect of writing our own vows, but we felt very anxious about the idea of having to read them in front of our guests. So instead, we opted to read them privately during our first look. We are so happy we chose to do this! It was such a special part of the day where we were able to just be in the moment and remember what the day is all about.”
The couple followed their first look and vow reading with formal portraits with their families and wedding party. After a few more sunset portraits of just the two of them, Emily & Ryan were off to the Jackrabbit Club to kick off their downtown Rochester wedding.
The Venue
The couple had this to share about why they chose the Jackrabbit Club to host their downtown Rochester wedding celebration:
“We knew we wanted our wedding to feel like an intimate dinner party, so food and ambiance was very important to us. Good Luck is our favorite date night spot for dinner and cocktails, so it felt like a no-brainer to tour their event space. Once we walked in, we knew it was exactly where we wanted to get married. The exposed brick and open kitchen felt very cozy, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We are so happy we chose Jackrabbit Club.”
Advice for Newly Engaged Couples
“Our best advice for newly engaged couples would be to make the planning a fun activity instead of a chore. We tried to turn wedding to-do list items into date nights! We often make a nice dinner or fun cocktail and turned on our wedding playlist to accomplish some of the tasks that felt overwhelming or mundane (like the dreaded seating chart).”
